Human Design Centres

The Head Centre

The Head is the centre for ideas and inspiration.

Divine inspiration comes through the Head centre and ultimately allows us to expand what is possible.

Open Head Centre

When you have this centre open, ideas come at you from many different directions. You could be having a shower, hanging out with friends, walking on the beach…it doesn’t matter…the ideas will find a way into your open Head.

You may think you need to action all of these ideas, to understand them and to work them out; this causes you an undue amount of mental pressure.

Your ideas can keep you in a constant of mental processing. You can wake in the middle of the night with random ideas and struggle to get back to sleep because of it.

Your open Head Centre is designed to dance with all the different possibilities of thinking.

Enjoy the wisdom you receive pondering ideas and inspirations. Then release these ideas so they don’t consume you.

Find a way to escape the pressure of your open Head Centre by finding a way to relax your overactive mind. Reading, listening to podcasts, dancing, meditation, or a big glass of wine are all great examples of techniques you can use to escape the pressure of your mental chatter.

Defined Head Centre

When your head centre is defined, you constantly radiate inspiration out into the world even though you may not always be aware of it.

Your mind is great at measuring and comparing things. You frequently question the world around you, thinking and conceptualising. You can feel an internal pressure pushing you to understand things and explain them to others. Finding time to reflect and process these thoughts is important for you. Patience is necessary because you won’t be able to solve and act on these things immediately, if at all.

Your inspirations can bring new information into the world, but you mustn’t allow yourself to stress about how to externalise these ideas and inspirations and turn them into something tangible and explainable to others.

It is important that you don’t make final decisions from your mind. Decision making should always come within your body below your neck, not in your head.

The Ajna Centre

The Ajna is the centre for data processing, thoughts, beliefs, and awareness.

open ajna centre details

Open Ajna Centre

With this centre open, you don’t have a fixed way of thinking about anything. Instead you can see things from many different perspectives. You can use this open-minded way of thinking to help people with a defined Ajna centre see things from another angle.

You can be easily influenced by the thoughts and ideas of the people around you so make sure your thoughts are you own and not absorbed from someone else.

You struggle for certainty and to hold onto a vision, but you’re not meant to be mentally certain about things. Instead, tune into your body. Your answers to any thoughts you have will come through your body in response such as a gut instinct. Look for clarity in your body in response to something, not certainty in your head.

Defined ajna centre details

Defined Ajna Centre

When you have this centre defined, your mind has the ability to hold onto information. This makes you uniquely capable of certainty unlike people who have an open Ajna centre.

You have a very fixed way of thinking. You aren’t easily influenced by the thoughts and beliefs of other people.

You can be very focused when you need to be so you can work something out before you move on to something else. You may enjoy thinking about information and even researching topics. Your mind is constantly reviewing, comparing, categorising and storing information. You may find it hard to turn off your thoughts and worries. Finding a way to relax your mind is beneficial. Meditation can be an effective way to do this.

You mind operates in a consistent way and you can trust how it operates. However, you can become overly reliant on your mind for working things out instead of feeling what is right for you within your body. Mental anxiety can plague you at times because you’re constantly trying to figure things out.

You can benefit from spending time with people who have an open Ajna centre because they help you see things from a different perspective. Try to find a way to get out of your head when you can so you can relax your mind and observe your thoughts instead of holding tightly onto them and trying to do something with them.

The Throat Centre

The Throat Centre is the centre for communication and manifestation. Everything in the chart leads to this centre so it can be expressed as words and turned into actions.

open throat centre details

Open Throat Centre

When you have this centre open you are designed for silence.  You need to wait for recognition or to be invited to share what you know with other people if we want them to hear you and for your words to be heard as intended.

Your vocal power comes when you wait to be recognised or invited to speak. It’s only then that the benefit of having an open Throat Centre can be harnessed; you can adapt your voice and your words to suit the person or people you are talking to so your words are truly understood.

Defined throat centre details

Defined Throat Centre

With a defined throat centre, you have a consistent and reliable way of communicating, acting and doing things. When you speak, people listen. You can instil confidence in others. You can leap into action and inspire others to act.

A defined Throat Centre which is connected to a motor centre gives Manifestors and Manifesting Generators their manifesting power.

You have strong opinions and can make stuff happen, converting words to action. You must wait for the right timing to use this centre correctly and properly impact other people. What centre your throat is connected to determines what you can successfully talk about, manifest, and what right timing means for you.

When your Throat centre is connected to the Will, Solar Plexus, Root or Sacral centre you can initiate conversations about certain things based on the connected centre. When it is connected to any of the other centres, you can speak about certain topics only when you’re invited to speak (when the timing is right).

If you don’t wait for right timing, you can speak inappropriately pushing your words onto others and lacking impact. You must understand how your type and connected centres affect your Throat centre and indicate right timing. You can totally burn out if you push your voice without waiting for this right timing.

The G Centre

The G Centre is the centre for self-love, identity and life-direction.

open g centre details

Open G Centre

When you have this centre open, your identity and life direction is changeable; you adapt yourself to whoever you're with, wherever you are.

This centre is linked to the heart chakra and it’s all about self-love and love for others. When you have this centre open you can fall in love with anyone because you see the potential within them. This open centre can also cause you to question your lovability.

The most important thing you can do is to spend time in places that feel really good; your home and work are especially important. It’s also important to spend time with people who are good for you because you become like the people you are around. These people should feel good to spend time with.

Defined head centre details

Defined G Centre

When your G centre is defined, you are here to give love.

You have a strong and consistent sense of self and identity. You are who you are wherever you are and that is that. You won’t merge with other people’s identities and you are authentically you in all you do. You can love yourself and others without feeling dependent on them.

It’s important to allow yourself to follow your own personal direction. When you don’t, you risk losing the love you have for yourself and not fulfilling your potential.

You may at times try to direct others to follow your path. But this is not the G’s purpose. Instead, shine your light for other people to show them the way but don’t try to control them and expect them to follow your specific direction. Neither is it your responsibility to carry their baggage; this will only cause you suffering and deplete your energy.

Tune in to your strategy and authority; it will show you how to follow your own path. When you’re not tuned in, you may at times worry if you’re loveable for who you are. When you learn to trust and feel comfortable walking in your own unique shoes, you will meet with more success in life and far less resistance.

The Will Centre (Heart)

The Will is the centre for willpower, money and ego.

Open Will Centre

With an open Will centre, you don’t have access to consistent willpower although you can sometimes mistakenly think you do. When you are around someone with this centre defined, you temporarily borrow their willpower energy and you can feel invincible.

With this centre open you question your value and are terrified that you’re not worthy. You have a drive to prove yourself. You can completely burn yourself out because of this. This open centre can cause us to constantly push yourself with energy you simply don’t have; trying to prove to yourself and the world that you are productive and committed.

It is important that you enter agreements with other people using your strategy so you protect yourself from committing to something that you just don’t have the energy for.

You have an enormous amount of potential to find out what is truly valuable in life and what is worth committing your energy to, so make sure you tap into this.

Defined head centre details

Defined Will Centre

When you have this centre defined, you have access to willpower energy to commit to things and see them through. You have the ability to bring things forth on the material plane. You get things done even when the going is tough.

You know your value and you are designed to talk about yourself as a way to make sense of the world. You use personal experience and the word ‘I’ a lot to help you understand the world around you. When other people are describing their experiences, you may say ‘I know what you mean, I’ve done that…I…’ this is not an egotistical response but a way for you to personalise something to truly understand it.

You like to be in control. In fact, at times you can be over controlling of yourself and others.

The beautiful thing about having this centre defined is that you have the capacity to surrender to something greater than yourself. This is after all a heart centre.

You must ensure you have a good balance of work and rest otherwise this defined centre can burn you out pushing you through your need to rest. This will also enable you to have greater abundance in life. Whenever you can, allow yourself to work and rest as your body dictates.

Your ability for having willpower rubs off on other people when they’re around you; they feel like they can do anything when standing in your aura. They may also expect you to do things for them.

The key with having this centre defined is to value yourself enough to receive the blessings of this centre, avoid being too pushy with yourself and others, and only commit to things that you feel motivated to do.

The Sacral Centre

The Sacral is a powerful motor energy centre. This is where workforce and life force energy comes from.

open sacral centre details

Open Sacral Centre

The Human Design Sacral is a powerful motor energy centre. 70% of people have this centre defined which gives them the energy to do and to keep going.

With this centre open, you don’t know when enough is enough; you may crash and burn out but not realise why. You, therefore, need to manage your energy. If you don’t, you may completely burn out after 40.

You need a lot of rest and to get good sleep every night; don’t wait until you’re exhausted to go to bed.  Ensure you get lots of time alone and take naps if you need them.

Defined sacral centre details

Defined Sacral Centre

When you have this centre defined you have the most powerful energy centre in the human design chart turned on.

This gives you consistent energy to do and to keep going when you respond to the world around you and make decisions according to your authority.

This centre gives you pure workforce and lifeforce energy. Like a rechargeable battery you need to use your energy up during the day and go to bed tired so you can recharge overnight and then do it all again the next day. You have the ability to get up and keep going even when you’re reasonably burned out and aren’t doing something you enjoy.

But, when you respond to life around you and you find something to do in life that really brings you joy, this centre allows you to become much more vibrant and vital.

This centre gives you your gut response to something. This gives you an instant YES or NO as you interact with the world around you. You may even experience this as an Ahuh or Un-Un sound direct from your gut instead of the words yes or no.

You have the energy to do what needs to be done to move the world forward in your own unique and special way. Make sure you use this sacral energy properly in response to the world around you.

The Solar Plexus Centre

This is a powerful motor centre and is our emotional centre that helps us feel into what is right for us. This is the centre for emotional energy. People who have this centre defined experience a consistent emotional wave.

open solar plexus centre details

Open Solar Plexus Centre

With this centre open, you take in the emotional energy of the people around you and then amplify it. This makes you susceptible to the emotional energy of other people. You will do whatever you can to keep people happy so as not to stir the emotions of others because this ultimately affects you.

The best thing to do when you notice the stirring of emotional energy picked up from someone else is to remove yourself from them. Take yourself away for at least 15 minutes to let the energy subside so you can release it.

Defined solar plexus centre details

Defined Solar Plexus Centre

The Human Design Solar Plexus is the centre for emotional energy. When you have this centre defined, you experience a consistent emotional wave; an emotional mood swing. The channels you have connected to this centre determine what type of emotional waves you have. Some people will have very consistent emotional ups and downs (highs and lows). Others will reach an emotional high only to then plummet down in to an emotional low and then slowly move toward an emotional high again. Other people will only feel impacted by their emotional wave when they’re triggered by another person within their relationships.

Your wave gives you the ability to see the world through different coloured lenses – a little darker when you’re in your low emotional state and a little more rosy when you’re in your high emotional state. Your ability to see things through these different filters allows you to build an overall perspective about something so you can find clarity about it and make a decision that is right for you.

Patience is key for you when it comes to making decisions. You don’t see the truth about what is right for you in the moment because it is tainted by whatever emotional filter you experience something through.  When you learn to be patient and wait through your emotional wave to gain an overall perspective about something, you can truly make aligned decisions in life that produce successful outcomes.

Don’t allow other people to tell you when you need to respond by or act on something. Only by feeling through your emotional wave can you find clarity within your body about what response or action is best for you.

The Spleen Centre

The Human Design Spleen is the centre for survival, health, intuition and time. It’s a mastery centre. This is a feel good centre so people who have this centre defined have natural feel good energy.

open spleen centre details

Open Spleen Centre

When you have an open Spleen centre you are attracted to people and things that make you feel good because you don’t naturally have this energy yourself. This causes you to hang on to these things for longer than you should. This can cause you to hold onto unhealthy relationships and circumstances.

You’re often so in the flow with whatever you’re doing that you loose track of linear time; there is only NOW. At times you may be so into the moment that you don’t have the consistent energy to be aware of other commitments; you can lose track of time. This can cause you to be overly conscious of keeping your time commitments.

Fear plays a big part in your life if you don’t learn to feel the fear and do it anyway. Fears are only in the moment and once you push through them, you’ll achieve your next step in mastering whatever you are doing.

Your body lets you know when things aren’t right, so tune into your sensitive immune system. It signals to you when you need to stop and take care of yourself.

Defined spleen centre details

Defined Spleen Centre

The Human Design Spleen is the centre for survival, health, intuition and time. It’s a mastery centre and it’s all about survival.

When you have this centre defined, you have consistent access to fear and feel-good energy which protects you and ensures your survival. You naturally have intuitive insight in the moment which is your guidance system about what is best for you. An in-the-moment fear response can help you survive a threat. A feel-good response tells you when something feels right for you.

It is important to pay attention to these intuitive responses especially if you have Splenic authority. When you receive a fear response it’s important to check in with yourself to see if this response is justified. If your body is telling you to run because a bear is chasing you, then this is an appropriate response to follow. If your body is telling you to run because you’re about to step on stage to give a speech, then this is an unjustified response is to your fear in the moment. By pushing through these type of fear responses you have a chance of achieving real mastery; why this is also called a mastery centre.

Because this is feel-good centre, you naturally have feel-good energy. Being in the moment is easy for you and you have a good inner sense of time.

You also have a strong and powerful immune system which keeps you healthy unless you totally burn yourself out. When you’re sick, you’re really sick because you often don’t notice yourself getting sick until you’re really sick. You tend to keep working even when you are sick. For this reason, you must check in with yourself from time to time to ensure you’re not overdoing it and pushing yourself towards bad health.

The Root Centre

The Human Design Root centre is a pressure centre. It has an adrenaline pulse that is either on or off for people who have this centre defined in their chart.

open root centre details

Open Root Centre

With an open Root centre, you can struggle to relax and unwind without feeling like you should be doing something. You can completely exhaust yourself and push yourself beyond your energy limits because you don’t have a natural internal pulse that tells you when it’s time to stop and rest. This can ultimately lead you to burn out.

You must find a way to stay out of the pressure that your open Root centre creates within you. Meditate, swim, read, yoga are just some activities you can engage in to unwind and stop yourself DOING all the time. Your to-do list will never be complete so give yourself a break and hide that stressful list of action items.

Defined root centre details

Defined Root Centre

When you have this centre defined, you have consistent impulses to move or to be still; to move or to not move. The adrenaline pulses you receive from your Root centre depend on what centres it’s connected to. When your Root centre is connected to the Spleen centre, these pusles define whether you fight, flight or freeze in a stressful moment. When it’s connected to the Solar Plexus centre these pulses are impacted by your mood; when your mood goes down so does your energy. When it’s connected to your Sacral centre, you have pulses to do or to not do; to take action or to not take action in that moment.

Your Root centre pulses tell you whether you need to do something with this energy in that moment or whether to relax and wait. It is important that you tune into what this pulsing energy is telling you and not push through the pulse that tells you to relax and wait.

You are somewhat immune to adrenaline pressure. You have a consistent way of processing stress and adrenaline pressure. You can find calm within the chaos around you and you are fully equipped to handle stressful situations and pressure.

You have the ability to light the fire in other people and can really get things going. You must follow your pulses to act because if you haven’t got somewhere to direct your adrenaline energy, when the pulse is on to act, you can get restless.  You must always follow your strategy and type otherwise you risk burning out.
