Human Design Generator

Generator Types comprise about 35% of the population.

Purpose

Generators are usually very busy people, always on and ready for action. Generators are the true builders in the world. They are a source of sustainable energy. They are here to be the workforce and life force energy on the planet - providing resources, education, nurturing community, work, loving, children and sustaining life.

A Generators purpose is to find work they enjoy so that they can become masterful at it. Engaging in the right work will also bring Generators a great sense of happiness and fulfilment. Generators are the only Human Design type that has the sacral centre turned on. The sacral centre is what provides them with sustainable life force energy. Because they have sustainable energy it is important that they stay busy and work. This energy needs to be used. They also know how to be most efficient with their energy which can bring them a deep feeling of satisfaction.

Work and family are the most fulfilling pursuits for a Generator.

Strategy

Generators are here to receive. This means for them to benefit from their wonderful life force and work force energy, they must wait for something to show up in their external environment (not within them) that they can respond to. Their path is revealed to them in the world outside of them. To respond means they can’t simply just follow their ideas. They can’t get an idea in their head and then just go out and do it. When they do, they will experience frustration.

For example, let’s say a Generator has an idea to go on a holiday. At this point it is just an idea and they shouldn’t act on it.  Then, their partner comes home and says they have to take a month’s leave from work. Perhaps an email lands in the Generators email inbox the next day advertising a great flight sale and then then they receive a large sum of money from a friend who is finally paying them back money owed. Now things have materialised in the Generator’s external world that confirms their idea of taking a holiday. Now the Generator has something to respond to – in this case, to take a holiday.

When a Generator waits for things to show up they find much less resistance to them. Less resistance than if they tried to force something to happen themselves without waiting for it to show up in their external environment.

When they wait to respond, they meet with less resistance in life and their sacral energy is turned on. They feel more vibrant, more alive. They are suddenly exposed to energy they haven’t had before instead of feeling burned out. To achieve this, they must hold an intention about what they want and then let it show up in their environment so they have something to respond to.

Emotional Theme - Frustration

When Generators are in the right work and they are using their energy effectively they will feel a great sense of satisfaction. This is their goal as a Generator. When they feel satisfied this is a signal that they are moving in the right direction and following their strategy. Conversely, when Generators feel frustrated, this indicates that they aren’t following their strategy and it’s important that they use this feeling of frustration as a gauge for how they’re doing.

Frustration plays a major theme in a Generator’s life. They can experience deep frustration if they try to initiate things themselves without waiting. Waiting for something to respond to is crucial for ensuring success in life and avoiding burn out from committing to the wrong things. They shouldn’t try to make things happen themselves without waiting, they will only feel frustrated.

Decision Making

A Generator’s sacral energy is also what gives them a strong gut instinct. It’s important that they trust their gut instinct because it tells them how to respond to these things when they arrive in their external environment. When they need to make a decision, they shouldn’t overthink their response. Instead, they should listen to their gut. It will tell them the right response they need to make for any decision. And if they don’t have a gut response in the moment they shouldn't make a decision about it at that time. Maybe the timing isn’t right. The point is to not force a response.

Health

Generators have the knowledge to take care of their own health. It’s vital that they listen to their body, trust their sacral and care for themselves in the way they need. If they are not working in the right job, they will burn out. When they find the correct work their Sacral centre supplies them with a virtually inexhaustible source of energy.

A Generator’s energy field communicates to the world that they need something to respond to. When they wait, things always come to them in the right time and the right way and in turn enable good health.

Learning

Generators often find that once they have something to respond to they jump in and get good at it only to then get stuck because they’re not making any further progress. This is natural and normal for a Generator. These little roadblocks are part of their learning curve and if they stick with it, while they’re on the progress plateau, they will eventually make further progress again. They must try to resist feeling stuck and frustrated during the plateaus and remember that this means they are getting close to their next leap of mastery.

Sleep

It’s very important that Generators wear themselves out every day before they go to bed. This will ensure they get a good night’s sleep. They must exhaust their sacral energy completely before bed otherwise they may have trouble falling asleep.
